TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has banned bulk SMS and MMS for Idea, Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone and Docomo. This sad news among youngsters or other SMSes and MMSs lovers, the limit of 5 sms per day, which has led to exodus of northeastern people from certain states, Indian government banned it from today the bulk SMSes and MMSes for just 15 days across the country.Union Home Secretary RK Singh told PTI said,”We have banned bulk SMSes and MMSes for 15 days,”.
Becasue of widespread circulation of SMSes and MMSes containing misleading information about Assam violence, the decision was taken, threats to people of northeastern origin living in other parts of the country and doctored videos.
The Indian Home Ministry has asked the Dept. of Telecommunications to implement the order through all the telecom operators.
According to the new rules from today onwards, no one will be able to send more than 5 SMSes in one go and more than 20 KB of data through mobile phones during this banned period.
The ban came into process after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that spread of rumors by miscreants had led to people belonging to the north east states to flee from Bangalore, Pune and some other parts of the country.
